Elon Musk’s company SpaceX has entered into a significant agreement with AI firm Anthropic, securing 300 megawatts of computing capacity to support its AI coding service, Claude Code. This partnership was announced during Anthropic's developer conference in San Francisco by Chief Product Officer Ami Vora. To accommodate this demand, Anthropic plans to utilize SpaceX's Colossus One data center located in Memphis, which is equipped with a substantial number of Nvidia GPUs capable of handling intensive computation. The deal is expected to enhance the performance of Anthropic’s offerings, with the company doubling the rate limits for developers on various plans and increasing capacity for its advanced Claude Opus model's API.
This agreement marks a strategic move for both companies. SpaceX, which acquired Musk's xAI lab earlier this year, is expanding its computing sales business, providing GPU access to other firms while simultaneously developing its AI models.
